Hi. My Class rocks. At first I thought that the camp would be super tiring. But the first day of the camp was fun.

Our PMs was Fu Yong and Melissa. We did drills at first. Drills made my legs painful! I was like “I will never join uniform group!”. We were learning the grenade drills. Then we had water break, PM Fuyong threw the paper to us. The paper acts like a grenade. After lunch, we had “games”. The games train our physical fitness. It was fun.

At first, we played some teamwork game, I think that teamwork is very important. The PMs ‘saboed’ me! They asked me to lead them in doing the things, like situps, burpies, crunches, Jumping Jacks. I learnt that in order to lead, I must first do it and show it to others. I must persevere although I was tired and did not want to go on. But, I must stretch myself. We had to repeat a few times because some of them were not doing it. In order to progress on, we must all do it together. All for one, one for all! After that, we did success claps. We did 2000 of them! The first hundred was tiring and it was very painful. But the spirit of perseverance prevailed and I continued doing it.

Before that, a PM came to talk to us. His name was Zhiwen! Haha he was funny though. I hope that I will learn more things tomorrow. I am looking forward to tomorrow.

Yo! Chrysan here! I am from 2/6! The most memorable experience I had today is doing the success clap. Because we did 2000 claps! Which I actually felt very honoured about!
Anyway, the FUN part is when we did drills, because at first we felt very tired about doing this, but after a while, its like so fun! It makes you feel like you are a part of the army! Proud to say that we are the first girls’ school to receive live! Operation! Though we are really talkative, the PMS (Platoon Mentors) still did not scold us, and even got more enthusiastic with us! They are, of course, the best platoon mentors ever! They are PM Melissa and PM Fuyong! Haha. They brought us from stations to stations to play and exercise! While going to stations, we met many other PMS who talked to us, played games with us and even praised us! The praises were for the 2000 success claps we did!

The games that we played, of course we 2/6 did it! As for physical exercises like situps on the grass patch, they were tiring and terrible (for me), but still SUPER fun! Its so fun that I want to repeat everything again! How fun!

Of course 2/6 don’t just play, we learn! We learn many things and understand our school values better. For example, perserverance, integrity, care and concern. We persevered to do success claps, leopard crawls, using strings to hold up a bucket and doing situps. As for integrity, our PMs told us to do the success claps properly and not cheat. We did it! As for care and concern, we cared and helped our friends to stretch! We also checked if they are okay.

Therefore, in total, I think it’s a very fun, interesting, nice, good, wonderful, marvelous, joyful and healthy day! (This is only the first day! ) If I ever have a chance like this again, I would join and fully participate in it! This will never be bored! LIVE OPERATION!

~ byes! Loving this moment ever!

The camp strategizes us to be more confident in ourselves. It also unleashes our potential as a student and a camper. This camp has given the students opportunities to bond with the class. It is the most enjoyable and fun moment and the students get to spend time together as one class. The drills and activities that have been organized for us were fun and it gives us chance to work together as a team through hardships. I’ve learnt that we should have more courage to face any upcoming obstacles. The PMs were very kind and friendly toward us, students. They showed care and concern towards us. I’ve been taught that doing drills helps us to be more disciplined with ourselves. The games also has made me more aware that losing or winning its not important, it’s the teamwork that counts. We should not hesitate when we’re doing things just because we are afraid of failure. I’ve realized that if you participate wholeheartedly in the activities or games, you will get to enjoy the fun. I really enjoy this camp and hope that I get to participates such enjoyable camp in the future. I will be really looking forward to it.

D-Day

7th January 2008 marked not only the first Live! Operations camp experienced by St. Margarets Girls’ School, it was also the first Live! Ops experienced by an all-girls’ school. This was no mean feat, looking at the training the girls had gone through in the first half of today.

While National Service is a mandatory thing for our boys, most girls would not be able to relate to the experience. It was an opportunity for them to gain a greater understanding of the workings in the Army, rather than catching the occasional glimpses of soldier life from their father/brothers/the media. It was an eventful morning’s training, where the campers learned real-life drills, played games designed to simulate army conditions.

Army conditions were simulated right down to the nitty-gritty details, as this is a thematic camp. Platoon mentors led their groups, teaching them victory cheers. The platoons also had to perform the "Contacted!" Drill when they met other platoons. The girls produced a praiseworthy performance, keeping their chin up and going through the trainings with enthusiasm.

When the going gets tough, the St Margarets girls get going!
